As a further testament to Li Ka Shing Foundation’s unchanging promise toward tertiary education in China, on June 16 Shantou University announced a bold and pioneering scheme to become the first university in Mainland China to offer full-tuition 4-5 years academic scholarships for all enrolled undergraduates starting with the incoming class of 2019.
With an annual commitment of RMB100M, the Foundation hopes this scheme can alleviate financial burdens for families and encourage the pursuit of personal interests and further learning to better prepare graduates for the challenges of an increasingly complex global economy.
Since 1981, the Foundation has supported Shantou University’s reform initiatives, with grants exceeding HK$10 billion, in addition to human and other resources, to aid the University’s sustained development.
