Project Goals and Purpose

  • Mr Li Ka-shing maintains a focus on caring for the disabled and helping the needy.
  • Since 1984, the Foundation formed a partnership with the China Disabled Persons’ Federation to serve the disabled in China. In 1991, Mr Li and the Cheung Kong Group spread seeds of love by initiating and implementing a “dollar for dollar” charity programme for the disabled with an initial donation of HK$100 million.
  • From 2000 to 2018, the Foundation donated an additional HK$300 million to the “Cheung Kong New Milestone.” In aggregate, the Foundation donated over HK$400 million over the past 30 years, directly serving as many as two million people and indirectly assisting 16 million people — funding 1.07 million cataract surgeries and 480,000 prosthetic installations.
  • The funding enhanced the federation’s integrated management capabilities, efficiency, and transparency with long-term positive effects.
