(Hong Kong, 7 June 2017) Increasingly sophisticated and immersive gaming experiences, together with streaming technologies and social media platforms for community experiences are redefining the gaming industry; engaging millions of gamers and viewers around the world.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR, the Li Ka Shing Foundation will be presenting an exciting and free event “HKXP”, from 29 June to 9 July in Fashion World, Wonderful Worlds of Whampoa. US based Nomadic VR will be offering a location based virtual reality experience, while 3 Hong Kong and gaming lifestyle brand, Razer, will be hosting eSports tournaments.
In gaming, “XP” or Experience Points, is commonly used in video games to quantify a player’s progression through the game, demonstrating the value of experience. In this tech-centric era, to “level-up” and to stay competitive for the future is the new normal. We are excited to work with many partners to bring this event to Hong Kong.
The idea that gaming is just for bums has proven to be a myth. Recent data show that in 2016, the global gaming industry was valued to be worth US$460 million and is estimated to grow to US$1.1 billion by 2019. The massive growth has spawned opportunities for gaming software, hardware innovation and the development of virtual reality technology. HKXP will kick off on 29 June 2017 at Fashion World, Wonderful Worlds of Whampoa with special guests, the four gaming icons Dinter, Tat Gor, RZR Xian and TMD Aaron, attending the opening ceremony.
